    Adapted from real historical events, The Crossing is directed by famous international director Wu Senyu. It is about an event that occurred on January 27th, 1949. The Crossing, Shanghai Zhonglian Shipping Company boat, sank on its way from Shanghai to Keelung in Taiwan because of overloading and night cruise without turning on navigation lights, which caused the deaths of thousands of upper society individuals, gentlemen, and refugees. Through a history of over 50 years, and three couples with varied backgrounds, the movie tells how three couples with varied backgrounds are affected by the history, how they experienced wars and disasters, and eventually achieved a happy life. With an investment of over 250,000,000 Yuan, this movie was shot in mainland China, Taiwan and Japan. Filming in July 2013, this movie invited actors from China, Japan and South Korea, including Jin Chengwu, Zhang Ziyi, Song Huiqiao, and Masami Nagasawa, to act in this movie about wars and disasters.
